Youth, Sports & Recreation

The Winton Shire Council is dedicated to fostering strong connections with the young people of the Winton community through its Youth Sport and Recreation Program.

This initiative is designed to provide meaningful engagement, support, and opportunities that empower local youth to develop essential skills, build confidence, and actively participate in community life.

The Youth Sport and Recreation Program offers a range of high-quality services tailored to meet the diverse needs of young people.

These include:

  • Developmental Programs – Focused on personal growth, skill development, and leadership training, these programs equip young individuals with the tools needed to succeed in various aspects of life.
  • Client Support Services – Providing guidance and assistance to young people facing challenges, ensuring they have access to resources, mentorship, and a supportive environment.
  • Vacation Care Programs – Offering structured and engaging activities during school holidays to keep youth entertained, active, and socially connected.
  • After School Activities – Opening the Youth Centre four days a week from 3pm – 5pm during the school terms to offer a space for children to hang out and engage with others.
  • Annual Celebrations – Recognising and celebrating key events throughout the year that are significant to the youth and the wider community, fostering a sense of pride and belonging.

Through this program, the Winton Shire Council aims to highlight the contributions of young people within the community by offering them the necessary resources, encouragement, and leadership opportunities. By investing in the next generation, the Council seeks to create a positive and inclusive environment where youth can thrive, make meaningful contributions, and shape the future of the Winton community.
